Eltiam History

Iran University of Medical Sciences and Eltiam Charity foundation

Eltiam Charity was established in 2014 with the purpose of providing assistance and healthcare services to individuals seeking treatment. The charity is officially registered as a student charity under the Ministry of Health and Medical Education and operating within Iran University of Medical Sciences. The name “Eltiam” signifies healing in English, chosen to reflect the primary objective of the organization, which is to alleviate the discomfort of its clients.

The inception of Eltiam originated from the compassion of medical students who were deeply concerned about patients lacking the financial means to access essential healthcare services. Founded with a turquoise blue logo consisting of the Persian word for Eltiam, which in English translates to “healing,” the charity was established to address this critical issue. Dedicated students and supportive professors collaborated to nurture this initiative, starting with modest projects funded by minimal resources. Over time, they expanded their efforts to include initiatives such as organizing markets in partnership with prominent companies, distributing nearly 300 packages of essential items annually, and implementing a project to provide used books to disadvantaged communities.

Thanks to the dedicated and voluntary efforts of these students, Eltiam achieved recognition by receiving the National Sacrifice Award and Statue during the “6th and 11th National Ceremony for Awarding the Sacrifice of Iranian Students.” This prestigious award is presented annually to outstanding students who exemplify ethical and humanitarian values such as solidarity, sacrifice, and kindness within the university community.

In response to the devastating earthquake that struck the western region of the country in 2017, causing immense suffering and hardship for our fellow citizens, Eltiam swiftly mobilized to provide assistance. Within four days, the organization successfully raised the necessary funds for the reconstruction of the health center in the village of Rizehvand Najaf in Sarpol-e Zahab County. Subsequently, Eltiam renovated and prepared the health center to resume serving the people of our nation.

Establishment of Eltiam as a non-governmental organization:

Recognizing the need to enhance transparency for donors and expand assistance to a larger number of individuals beyond the university and student community, Eltiam charity underwent a transformation. In 2020, it was officially registered as a non-governmental, non-profit charitable organization (NGO) with approval from the Ministry of Interior. By obtaining the operating license in Tehran on August 4, 2020, Eltiam took a significant step forward among non-governmental organizations, solidifying its position as a prominent entity within the realm of student charities.
